WTO rejects most EU complaints over Boeing subsidies in new ruling

Geneva (dpa) – The World Trade Organization (WTO) has mostly sided with the United States and aircraft maker Boeing in its latest ruling over alleged ongoing subsidies that was brought by the European Union on behalf of Boeing’s rival Airbus.
The EU had complained that the US had failed to scrap several types of illegal subsidies, in contravention of a 2012 WTO ruling.
In its ruling that was made public on Friday in Geneva, the international trade body found that one of the subsidies in question, a tax rate reduction by the US state of Washington, had been left in place.
