US official: Laptop ban in Europe under review but not imminent

Brussels (dpa) – There are no immediate plans for a laptop ban in aircraft cabins on US-bound flights from Europe, a senior US administration official said Wednesday following a high-level EU-US meeting in Brussels.
The US currently bans laptops in cabins on direct flights to the United States that depart from 10 Middle Eastern countries.
Though not imminent, an expansion of that policy to flights departing Europe “remained under consideration,” the official told journalists on a call after the meeting.
